Elance 'Women in Technology' report reveals growth and success in US freelancing

American freelance network Elance has released a detailed report of it's female users and how they perceive their careers in the technology sector. Nearly 3,000 designers, programmers, analysts and more digital professionals responded to surveys on their working lives, geographic locations of placements and the benefits of digital freelancing.
The full report is available here, with the results illuminating issues not unlike those affecting women freelancing in the UK. The highlights are included below.

Of the 2,500 freelancers on CreativesRus.com, do you empathise with the survey responses, or are other factors left unexplored? Let us know your opinion - either in the comments section below; email to info@creativesrusuk.com or tweet @CreativesRus - and we'll publish your thoughts.

"Do you feel that sites like Elance provide more work opportunity for women vs. traditional employment to grow their careers?"
"How has online work helped grow your career?"

"What technical skill(s) do you wish you had or seek to possess in the next year?"

“For women in tech, online work is a level playing field where merit and results win. Online work provides an attractive avenue to neutralise gender discrimination around the world and create flexible professional opportunities not available in traditional job markets.”
said Fabio Rosati, CEO of Elance.
